Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate adrenal gland size, and whether there is a thickness difference between two sides of adrenal glands by multi- detector computed tomography, by which anatomic details can be evaluate better.
Materials and methods: Totally, 100 patients, who do not have adrenal gland pathology and outer adrenal gland body, are analyzed retrospectively by computed tomography with 16 and 64 detectors in regards of bilateral adrenal gland thickness.
Results: After measurements, it was found that the difference between both adrenal gland medial and lateral limb thickness was statistically significant (p< 0.001, p=0.035). But no significant difference was found between both adrenal gland bodies (p=0.611).
Conclusions: It was observed that left adrenal gland was thicker than the right in regards of variety. Further studies are necessary to conduct comprehensive investigations in regards of standardization of adrenal gland thicknesses.
